I know that moment because I lived it.
For two decades, I’ve helped leaders manage, grow, and scale companies across multiple industries — from law firms to healthcare practices to mission-driven nonprofits. I was good at it. I watched founders hit numbers they’d once dreamed about. And somewhere along the way, I noticed a pattern I couldn’t ignore: the businesses were profitable, but the people running them were overwhelmed. Successful on paper. Disconnected from purpose in real life.
I was one of them.
I had built a business-centered life. Everything revolved around growth, productivity, the next milestone, the “someday” version of freedom and impact that always stayed one quarter away. I told myself the tradeoff was temporary and that purpose could wait until the business was “done.” It never is. There’s no finish line where impact suddenly becomes safe to pursue.
In 2022, I made a different choice. I stopped waiting for permission to live life-centered instead — to let my business serve my purpose, instead of treating purpose like a reward I’d earn someday. That one shift changed how I spent my time, how I defined success, and who I let in close.
And here’s the part that surprised me: the more aligned my life became, the more effective my leadership became too. Not less ambitious. Not less driven. Just finally pointed toward something bigger than the next quarter, toward the kind of impact that outlasts any single business.
That’s the work I do now. I help founders and leaders build companies that don’t depend on them for everything, so they can step back without everything falling apart, and step into a bigger purpose: scaling not just their revenue, but their impact on the people and causes they actually care about.
It’s also why a portion of everything we do funds Impact Giving — strategic support for nonprofits and purpose-driven organizations doing work that helps humanity, who couldn’t otherwise afford this level of support. Profit and purpose were never supposed to be on opposite teams. I built my business to prove they don’t have to be.
I call the people who join me Human Unicorns™ — because that’s genuinely what they are: rare leaders who refuse to choose between building real business success and living a life that makes a real difference. They want to scale their impact the same way they scaled their revenue. They want their work to mean something beyond the work itself.
